The women’s tennis team will be faced with a huge conference match against Central Arkansas. With a win, the women could move to an 8-2 conference record and stand alone at second in the Southland conference. With a loss, the women would tie conference records with McNeese State, however, the women should be able to take the tiebreaker for beating McNeese.

The Wildcats have an overall record of 17-6 and a 7-2 record in conference. The women are coming off of a busy weekend where they played four straight away matches in four different locations. They came out successful winning three of the matches against Incarnate Word, Sam Houston State, and Lamar. Their lone loss came from the undefeated first placed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

“A victory is always good no matter what match we play so it would be awesome to get another win this weekend,” junior Erin Walker said. “We have had a lot of matches these past couple of weeks so I think that has prepared us mentally and physically for the tough matches to come.”

Central Arkansas is currently eighth in the conference and will head into the match with a 13-7 record overall and a 5-4 conference record. The season for Central Arkansas has been back and forth so far, losing some close matches, but also winning dominantly against many opponents. The Wildcats need to be ready to expect anything going into the match.

“Getting the conference victory would mean a lot for not just our team but our whole program and school in general,” senior Kaysie Hermsdorf said. “Not every person can play at a school where we can’t go compete in the conference tournament because we moved to Div. I. It would be a great experience to know we were the best. We feel pretty confident going into this weekends match but it will be another match we have to work hard in. There are no easy matches left and we have to keep up our work.”

The women will begin their match here on campus Saturday at 10 a.m.
