Five pickups to help your fantasy team

The fantasy football season is underway and multiple players’ stocks have risen and fallen since the beginning of the season.

There are five solid players on all five offensive positions that people should be on the lookout for: quarterback Alex Smith, wide receiver Eddie Royal, running back Joique Bell, tight end Martellus Bennett, and wide receiver James Starks as a flex option.

First off, Alex Smith is only owned in 20 percent of leagues according to Smith will provide a solid backup or bye week quarterback for any fantasy team. He may not put up a flashy number but he will give you a consistent 16-20 fantasy points per game.

Eddie Royal will be someone that could be off the waiver wire soon. Royal has dominated in two weeks behind the charger’s pass-happy offense. Philip Rivers has thrown five of his seven touchdowns to Royal who is available in a staggering 95.8 percent of leagues. Royal currently sits 3rd in points out of all wide receivers in the league. He will most likely not continue on this pace but he will put up solid numbers because of how head coach Mike McCoy utilizes the slot receiver.

Joique Bell was a complete unknown heading into the season, but after two games and two solid performances, he should be someone to add this week. The injuries are already adding up as they always do with Reggie Bush, which will leave his touches to Bell. Bell already has 28.4 points on the season after two weeks of splitting time with Reggie Bush.

Martellus Bennett is an up-and-coming tight end for the bears. He is 3rd right now in points among all tight ends and has become a top target for Jay Cutler. In the past he was overrated especially during his stint with the cowboys, but last season with the giants shows Bennett can play well for a whole season. Bennett will be someone to look out for as a touchdown threat.

The final player fantasy players need to be on the lookout for is Packers Running Back James Starks. Starks just had a dominating week against the Redskins after Eddie Lacy left the game with a concussion. I would suggest picking him up as a nice flex option whether Lacy returns or not. The success Starks had should get him some touches in each game plus he is available in just about every league.

Theses five solid players on the waiver wire will not last long so be prepared to pick them up.
